B.B. King past at 9:40 p.m. May 14, 2015. He was 89 years old.

B.B. hated to play acoustic guitar, he self-admittedly couldn’t play chords well and he never learned to sing and play guitar at the same time.

But Riley B. King is proof that if you focus on what you are best at … at what you enjoy … and you stay true to yourself … authentic to your soul … you can rise from being a child cotton picker in rural Mississippi in a segregated, racist country and become the greatest ever in your genre.

If you listen to ANY electric music today, it was influenced, in part, by B.B. King. He is the world’s ambassador of the Blues. He transcended race. He loved everyone. He worked his ass off, having once performed more than 365 straight nights without a day off. He has 15 Grammys and my life-long gratitude and respect.

B yourself. B honest. B authentic. B great at what you do. B a legend.
